History Of music Videos

Bohemian Rhapsody was not the first music video that was made but is one of the first most popular music videos. Music videos started to become popular in the late 70s and the early 80s this was due to many bands being on tour, so unable to be on tv at the same time so music videos were made and played on top of the pops that helped them get more exposure. People like Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday and the Beetles had short films made to go with a number of their songs. Meaning the music video concept had been around before Bohemian Rhapsody. MTV which came about in the early 80s meant that artists and record label's had more of a reason to make music videos, as they had somewhere to try and get them shown.

Chosen Artist - Rag "N"Bone Man

Rag "N"Bone Man

Song: Skin

I have chosen this artist because I think they have the best music out of all three of them and I have some ideas for the song of theirs that I have chosen. The song does already have a music video but I want make a completely different version of the music video. I have also chosen the artist and the song as I think compared to the other two it will be easier to create due to the other videos being expensive.

Rag "N" Bone Man's Music would probably have an audience of listeners to by the lower to middle class demographic due to the genre of music that he makes. Rag "N" Bone Man is from east Sussex and was not in the higher class then. And was kicked out of school so reflects a middle to lower class person before he got famous form his music. The genre and content of his music that he makes can also be seen to be produced by people who are not in the upper class.

Research Evaluation

The research that I have done will help with creating music video some of the research will be more useful than the others. The most useful research will be the Codes and conventions this is because it shows what goes into a video. The least useful was the artist research as this will not really effect the production of the music video whereas codes conventions will as they show the things that go into a music video to make the video a good music video. Although The artist research did help a little bit in terms of finding the demographics of my chosen artist. The music video analysis was also a helpful part of the research as we had to use the codes and conventions that we learnt and use to do the analysis of the music video this helped as it let you see what things are used in real music videos that have already been created.
