FINAL EVALUATION & REFLECTION

Description

For this project I made a music video for a song of my choice I chose a song by Rag "N" Bone man called Skin. I created the project for the first project of  year 2 the level 3 extended diploma in creative media production & technology to create this I first had to do research and create pre production documents before the production and post-production stage. I was the main person there but I had help from my brother who was the actor in the parts of the music video that required someone in the music video. For the project I did everything apart from the acting which my brother did. The main tasks that I had to do were research, production and post-production. During the pre production stage of the project I completed risk assessments and a location recce for each of the locations that I was going to use for film the project at. I also created things like storyboards and shot lists this was to ensure that I knew what I had to record for the project. The Music video that I have made will appeal to the artists demographic because I have things into the video that are similar to what Rag "N" Bone Mans music videos are. I also Edited the video in premier pro with the clips that I had recorded. Also I had to download the song and add it onto the timeline.

Feelings

At the time I was feeling quite worried as I had not made a music video before and did not have that much knowledge about music so I thought that I might struggle with the project. But after the research and pre-production I felt like I could then do the project as I had learnt what I needed to do to make a music video. After the project I felt better about the project although I felt my project could have been better but this was the first time I had made a music video so there will always be things that could have been done different after you finish the project. My brother who was acting in my project felt ok about the project as he was only doing a few shots to be in the music video.

Evaluation 

In this project I think the planning stage went quite well as I planned everything that I needed in order to start the filming and production I also think that some on the filming also went well. I think that this went the best out of everything that I did. Part of the filming did not go very well as I tired to get my actor to lip sync to the song but due to his age this was difficult so I decided to leave out the lip-syncing part because it will be better to have no lip-syncing than to have lip-syncing that does not sync and line up with the music but in the end it still looked quite good without the lip-syncing giving the video the look of the actor hearing the song in his heard rather than the music playing out loud which did look quite good in the end. The experience of doing this project has overall been quite good as I have learnt new skills and knowledge about music video production and made my first music video that I had ever made sure to this it was not the beset but this means if I did make one in the future I could make it a lot better than this one. 

ANALYSIS

Some of the shots that I was filming went wrong because It was quite difficult to direct my brother who is quite young, what do do in the music video but it did work out in the end. I don't think that responding could have been different. During this project I did use some of the skills and experience that I had gained from previous projects but to compare the knowledge I have gained after this project it is much more now than before.

I can now do a few things better now that I have completed the music video project better than before and improve on fundamental skills for media projects.During this project I have learnt about the creation of music videos and the different elements of how they are made. I have also learnt new things about editing and creating effects in Premiere Pro and After Effects. Which will be useful for future projects.

ACTION PLAN

I can use this experience of making a music video in future projects as the skills can be applied to a variety of different media projects also if I were to make a music video again in the future this would also been a good experience to learn from and apply the new skills to the project. If I were to do The project again I would change a few things for example make the music video more interesting and make the filming look better but I could do this next time as I have learnt from this project.
